The Great Unknown

As a city dweller (albeit in the suburbs), the constant light pollution at night usually hinders stargazing. Recently, we took two trips further away from civilisation, and with the incredible astrophotography technology available on my phone (which, admittedly, is a little outdated by now) – plus a tripod (necessary for this kind of venture), I was able to capture these beauties.

Of course, in time, the technology may evolve to allow more detailed shots – akin to even telescopic views – but for now, I thought this was pretty amazing.

The further away we move from these fast-paced, stressful, urban environments, the more we are able to truly see and appreciate what lies out there. When we leave our own bubbles and venture into the wild, we realise that – for all the wonders of technology and convenience that humanity has produced, we can never compete with the magnificence of the natural world around us; the signs of our Creator, visible for all of humanity since time began.

  1. These are stunning, Yacoob! Just magnificent. Thank you so much for sharing them, and your usual insightful and inspiring thoughts. You’ve provided me with such peace on a most challenging day…kind of like resuscitation for the spirit. Thank you, and gentle peace.

  2. SubhaanAllah. this is amazing. I’ve always been a fan of stargazing and fond of looking into the mysteries of how our galaxy has evolved. You’ve given a real good piece of writing here. Cheers!

  3. Great pictures, sooo subtle.
We are quite privileged because we have low light pollution here. There is really a tourism. Stargazers coming to our coast to see quite a dark sky.
